In a dynamic demonstration of community engagement and industry innovation, Gweru Residents and Ratepayers Association (GRRA) secretariat recently toured Go Beer Breweries.
Accompanied by Gweru City Councillors and board members of Go Beer Breweries, Mercy Mangwanya and Jackos Manyanga, the delegation experienced firsthand how local production can drive economic growth and empower community development, with GRRA playing a pivotal role in advocating for and supporting the creation of Go Beer Breweries.
At the heart of the visit was Go Beer Breweries’ state-of-the-art production line, where the company proudly produces approximately 15,000 litres of opaque beer a day. This product not only serves as a key competitor to Delta Beverages in the Gweru market but also represents the spirit of local entrepreneurship.
The brewery’s commitment to quality and innovation was evident as staff explained the rigorous production processes and quality controls that ensure every litre meets high standards.
GRRA has been a staunch advocate for local industry development, and their support was instrumental in the establishment of Go Beer Breweries. Recognizing the potential for economic empowerment and job creation within the community, GRRA championed the initiative that led to the creation of Go Beer.
Their advocacy helped to create an enabling environment for local entrepreneurs and demonstrated a deep commitment to strengthening local supply chains and boosting regional economic resilience.
This proactive stance has not only bolstered local pride but has also positioned Gweru as a hub of innovative industry solutions.
During the tour, Mr. Rusike, Chief Executive Officer of Go Beer Breweries, outlined the company’s ambitious growth plans. Initially establishing a strong foothold in Gweru, the brewery has successfully expanded its market reach to include Kwekwe, Tongogara, Gokwe, and Zvishavane.
With plans underway to extend their distribution network nationwide, Go Beer is poised to intensify competition with established brands like Delta Beverages.
This expansion is expected to further stimulate the local economy, create additional employment opportunities, and provide significant benefits to allied local industries.
Councillors Mercy Mangwanya, Jackos Manyanga and Fortunate Mlambo were notably enthusiastic about the brewery’s contribution to regional development.
Their presence, alongside GRRA’s leadership, underscored the importance of collaborative efforts between local government and community organizations.
Together, they emphasized that initiatives like Go Beer Breweries not only offer economic benefits but also reinforce the idea that local stakeholders can drive meaningful change and foster sustainable community development.
This collaborative initiative between Go Beer Breweries and GRRA secretariat marks a significant milestone in Gweru’s journey towards economic self-reliance and local empowerment.
By supporting the creation of Go Beer and embracing locally produced products, the community is setting a benchmark for how targeted advocacy and strategic investments can lead to improved market competition, job creation, and overall economic prosperity.
As Go Beer Breweries prepares for a nationwide rollout, the visit stands as a vivid illustration of the power of local innovation and collective advocacy in shaping a vibrant economic future for Gweru and beyond.
